Specifically, we're going to have to learn to focus and ignore distractions (in a way that we're quickly learning NOT to do) in order to avoid mishaps and dangerous accidents. Certainly not impossible, but I know that if I personally were to drive a car with my mind right now, I'd most certainly become distracted by either outside stimuli or internal dialogue and crash that shit right quick. But somehow it's a weird concept, the idea that we die for a reason like that rather than just that we wear out.
Annehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07746725236369958171noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5880075489108159699.post-42662607505366894192014-01-20T04:18:17.117-08:002014-01-20T04:18:17.117-08:00Because evolution is ruthless, if there is any adv...Because evolution is ruthless, if there is any advantage for passing on your genes, evolution will make it so. It might seem advantageous to simply shut down the reproductive system instead of killing the animal, but a living organism also uses resources that could have gone to children or grandchildren. If you think about two competing families, one that has genes for aging and one that doesn't, the family without aging will keep the older generations around indefinitely, despite lack of reproductive function (which is what evolution cares about). The older generations will use lots of resources that could have gone to the younger generation that will reproduce. In the other family, the old people die and so those resources go to the younger generation, giving them a better chance of survival than the children from the family without aging.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14702009359641384854noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5880075489108159699.post-51673973468944234912014-01-20T04:12:13.116-08:002014-01-20T04:12:13.116-08:00I think the idea that there would be more chaos on...I think the idea that there would be more chaos on the roads isn't right, imagine if airline pilots could just fly wherever, would that be less chaotic? If you had a centralized computer guiding all the traffic, it minimizes accidents because the system knows where all cars are at all times. Air travel is many times safer than car travel, despite pilots relying on computers, also, pilots are some of the most overworked under payed professionals that exist, that has to be a factor as well. The thing about cars is that they always go on the road, your GPS can already easily chart a path to anywhere the roads go, all that is needed is to coordinate paths between cars so that they don't hit each other. As far as people losing skill at driving, people already suck at driving and there is a huge body count. Im not sure how it could get worse.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14702009359641384854noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5880075489108159699.post-58063726438138692412014-01-19T12:54:56.072-08:002014-01-19T12:54:56.072-08:00Hmm, self-driving cars? Just because there is a GPS and motion sensors, it still seems like it would be total chaos on the roads.

Just saw a piece on how passenger airliners (probably also the commercial ones too) are flown almost entirely on autopilot and that pilots are forgetting how to actually fly a plane. That's pretty scary. Sometimes the pilot still needs to fly the plane and he or she never gets practice at it, so when the time comes to take the controls, they are out of practice and unskilled.

That makes me not want to fly anymore!Annehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07746725236369958171noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5880075489108159699.post-90092815694085537962014-01-19T12:49:10.266-08:002014-01-19T12:49:10.266-08:00Why couldn't humans just stop being able to re...Why couldn't humans just stop being able to reproduce at some point (like we do) without having to actually die at come point?Annehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07746725236369958171noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5880075489108159699.post-3185469912721544872014-01-14T11:08:24.293-08:002014-01-14T11:08:24.293-08:00I think this is a great idea.I think this is a great idea.Rudy Nuñezhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06409243596208654550noreply@blogger.com
